# Create api key

Once you have signed in to the Relaybase dashboard:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open API Key">
    Open **API Key** from the dashboard.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create API Key">
    Click **Create API Key**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Name your key">
    Enter a name for your API key.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create the key">
    Click **Create Key**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy it immediately">
    Copy the API key immediately.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Your API key is shown only once after it is created. Relaybase does not store your API key in a way that allows us to retrieve and display it again. If you lose the key after leaving the creation screen, Relaybase cannot recover or reveal the original key.

  Store your API key securely and never share it publicly.
